The Role of Interns

Student interns are a tremendous asset to our organization in the areas of donor services, marketing, graphic design,
project management, and accounting. Interns become familiar with key community leaders and interact with them by phone, email, and in person. Students help distribute grant funding to nonprofits throughout Northern Colorado; assist with website management using our online content management system; prepare a monthly e-newsletter for donors and community leaders; and much more.

Application Instructions

Students interested in our general internships should email a cover letter and resume to Roxanne Fry at roxanne@CommunityFoundationNC.org

A Word From Our Interns

"My internship at the Community Foundation has given me the opportunity to meet influential leaders in Fort Collins and has allowed me to gain an understanding of the nonprofit community and the way that these organizations operate. The Foundation's atmosphere is professional and friendly, and I have acquired skills while working here that will aid me in all my future endeavors."

"Working at the Community Foundation provides me an opportunity to understand the larger socio-economic picture of philanthropy in our region --- something most students don't experience during their time here. My internship allows me to work in close proximity to the individuals who are shaping the Northern Colorado of Tomorrow, which is helping me become a better citizen. As a result, I’m becoming a better student and a better leader.”

"I am so grateful to be working for the Community Foundation. It has given me the opportunity to learn about the essential work the Foundation does, and also about the fantastic things nonprofit organizations in the community are doing to shape our region. Through the application of the Foundation's vision and mission, I have gained knowledge and skills that will assist me in whatever I pursue in the future."

"Working with the staff of the Community Foundation, and interacting with philanthropic leaders of Northern Colorado, has helped me understand the process behind donating, serving, and making a difference to the community as a whole.  I have seen the changes, big and small, that can happen when dedicated effort is made to recognize and help the needs of others.  This internship has helped me understand philanthropy, and it has also trained me in many tools and software that will help me in later careers."
