»»  Agency Spotlight: Partners Mentoring Youth

An interview with Executive Director Chris Imsland (December 2009)

Why did you establish a nonprofit agency endowment fund?
Partners Mentoring Youth established an agency endowment fund to provide future sustainability for our organization.

What services does the Community Foundation provide to you?
Most importantly, the Community Foundation is a resource for our agency when it comes to complex giving questions. Knowing that this support exists allows our organization and Board to focus on building donor relationships.

Why would you encourage others to establish a fund or learn more about the Community Foundation's mission?
I would encourage others to learn more about the Community Foundation simply for the practical purposes of time management and expertise. Understanding the impacts of giving, whether you are a donor or an agency, can be time-consuming and confusing. The Community Foundation has extensive resources and a professional staff to help guide you in your efforts.

What value does the Community Foundation bring to our region?
While the Community Foundation provides many values to our region, I believe the most important value is their ability to be a catalyst for philanthropy.

Is there anything else you’d like to share with current and potential donors?
I would encourage everyone reading this to think about what kind of impact you want to make in your community. Everyone has something to give. Once you have that figured out, act on it.
