Fort Collins Municipal Railway Society, Inc.
The mission of the Fort Collins Municipal Railway Society, acting in partnership with the Fort Collins Museum, is to operate the Fort Collins Municipal Railway to present a living history of electric public transportation in Fort Collins. It preserves, displays, operates, and interprets streetcar service, and collects artifacts and information of an educational nature and of significance to the City's electric railway. The Society is restoring Trolley Car #25 that needs new wheels and axles at $35,000 and Trolley Car #21 that needs new axles at $25,000 after a catastrophic axle break on July 25, 2010. The Fort Collins Municipal Railway Society also expects to begin work on some infrastructure improvements, such as repairs to the existing track and extending the track. Loveland Lions Clubs
The primary mission of Lions Clubs International, the world's largest service club organization, is to “provide vision to all” by improving and/or restoring sight, eradicating preventable blindness, and aiding people with blindness and low vision. Last year, the Loveland Eye Exam/Eyeglass Program provided 212 free eye exams and eyeglasses (84% of applications) to low income and uninsured children, disabled citizens, and seniors in the community. Additional funding is needed to cover increased demand for these Lions’ services. Colorado Lions Foundation. Loveland High School Band
The Loveland High School Wind Symphony has been invited to represent the finest of wind ensembles in the United States at the Western International Band Clinic in Seattle, Washington. One high school band in the world is selected to perform at WIBC each year; last year a high school band from Japan was selected. The cost for Loveland High School Wind Symphony to participate will be $75,000 and the group is halfway to reaching its goal. The AlterMed Research Foundation
The AlterMed Research Foundation promotes complementary and alternative medicine research and education to manage, treat, and prevent human chronic illness and cancer, and to promote healthful living. The organization will host a Roaring 20's Flappers Charity Ball on Aug. 14 at 6:30 p.m. at the Fort Collins Marriott. Attendees will be offered complimentary beer donated by Coors via High Country Beverage and the chance to win a car detailing donated by Markley Motors. The Friends of the Loveland Public Library Foundation, Inc.
The Friends of the Loveland Public Library Foundation, Inc. supports the Loveland Library's work as the information center by advocating for public support and use of the library, generating current and long-term funding, and developing volunteer involvement. The Capital Campaign being conducted by The Friends of the Loveland Library have reached $1.4 million of the $2 million goal and groundbreaking for the expansion of the Loveland Public Library has been accomplished. The Foundation is now looking for funding to outfit their first ever teen center in the Loveland Library which will include study rooms, meeting space and a specially designed sound proof state of the art gaming room. Reflections for Youth, Inc.
Reflections for Youth is a non-profit, community-based treatment center for teens and families in crisis. The organization has two residential facilities in Northern Colorado, one state-certified school, and a growing home-based family intervention program. Reflections for Youth is seeking funding to increase the quality of the housing environment for the residential youth; including the purchase of flooring and paint, bathroom renovations, bedding, clothing, furniture, lighting fixtures, curtains, appliances and office equipment. Additionally, Reflections for Youth is working to increase efficiency by making client intake and discharge assessments electronic and is in need of technology and software. Wildfire Community Arts Center
The Wildfire Community Arts Center is a group dedicated to building community through the arts. Wildfire offers art related classes, workshops and events for all ages in the greater Berthoud community. The Center has a mural project that they are working on right now, which offers community kids and adults the chance to work with a professional artist to draw and paint a mural on an exterior wall of their building. Harmony Foundation
Harmony Foundation is a nonprofit corporation specializing in quality, yet affordable, residential gender separate treatment for chemical dependency. Located in Estes Park, the Foundation’s comprehensive approach to recovery includes family programming, weekly continuing care meetings, and cost-free intervention services. Many individuals and families reach out to Harmony to help save a loved one’s life and do not have the financial resources or health insurance available to access care. Harmony uses grants and donations to provide scholarships to serve those who have limited or no financial resources. The mission of Be Local Northern Colorado is to cultivate the living economy of local independent businesses and farms through community advocacy, consumer education and business promotion. Some of the organization’s projects include: Winter Farmers' Markets, Be Local Coupon Book, and Be Local NC Independent Business Network. A healthy, resilient and affordable local food system is central to farm and water stewardship, better health and nutrition, and poverty and hunger alleviation. Fort Collins Spay/Neuter Clinic
Since its inception in March 2007, Fort Collins Spay/Neuter Clinic, a program of Fort Collins Cat Rescue, has performed 13,000 surgeries on dogs and cats for the general public (focusing on low-income pet owners) and other shelters/rescues in the northern Colorado/southern Wyoming region. The Spay/Neuter Clinic plays a vital role in preventing pet overpopulation in Larimer and surrounding counties, thereby decreasing the number of admissions to shelters and reducing euthanasia rates. The medical equipment being used for surgeries has graciously been loaned to the Clinic over these years; however, the Clinic is at the stage where outright purchase of this equipment and other supplies is necessary. The professional grade of such equipment is expensive; therefore, the Clinic is asking for community help in purchasing these items to allow it to continue providing low-cost spays/neuters for thousands more dogs and cats. Women's Journey Conference
The Women’s Journey Conference, a program of the Women’s Resource Center mentors, motivates, and inspires young women in Poudre School District through a dynamic and meaningful intergenerational conference experience that empowers them to change their/our world. This event has been offered free of charge to the Poudre School District High School young ladies for the past 12 years. Funding is needed to continue hosting the Conference. Colorado Foundation for Conductive Education (CFCE)
The Colorado Foundation for Conductive Education that teaches children and individuals with motor disabilities such as Cerebral Palsy how to become self-reliant by learning to sit, stand, walk, eat and self-care. The Foundation’s approach is similar to the traditional therapies of speech, physical and occupational only more intense and using the principles of Conductive Education, all taught in a group setting. Many families that have children with Cerebral Palsy are financially burdened and cannot afford the classes at CFCE even though the prices are kept low. CFCE needs funding to help provide scholarships for these children to attend Conductive Education classes where they will learn life altering skills for independence. Elderhaus Adult Day Program
Elderhaus serves adults with special needs in a therapeutic day program. Mindset Creative Community Resources center, a division of Elderhaus, focuses on providing services for higher energy adults. The majority of funding requests for Elderhaus/Mindset are for general operating expenses. In addition, the organization requires additional funding for special projects. Healthy Harbors: A Medical Home for Foster Families
Healthy Harbors, a fund of the Poudre Valley Health System Foundation, is a medical home pilot program for foster families in Larimer County. A patient navigator provides medical case management and works with health care providers, case workers, and birth and/or foster parents to help foster children access all the medical and non-medical services they need to thrive. Partners in Healthy Harbors are Poudre Valley Health System (PVHS), Larimer County Department of Human Services (DHS), and the Fort Collins Family Medicine Residency Program’s Family Medicine Center (FMC). Healthy Harbors is seeking funding to help support the patient navigator position, which is the crucial link for coordinating care, monitoring progress, eliminating duplication of services, improving efficiency, and reducing costs in the health care and foster care systems. The navigator assists foster families through the necessary maze of medical specialists, mental health centers, dental offices, and educational systems, interfacing and sharing information with the many agencies involved. Aging Center of the Rockies
The Aging Center of the Rockies is a mental health provider that serves the elderly. The organization is also a training facility and works with interns and professionals working towards licensure who are not paid. The Aging Center of the Rockies is seeking funds to match low income needs; it does not bill Medicare or Medicaid. Berthoud CARES
Berthoud CARES truly does care about the Berthoud community. The organization is available to help promote community events and to lend assistance to Berthoud residents who may need support due to an accident, illness or other tragic events. The Berthoud CARES Kids Helping Kids Grant Fund has been developed with the belief that even small amounts of money, carefully used, can have an important effect on someone's life. This fund offers one-time grants to Berthoud area children and their families who need to get through short-term crisis situations and have needs that are not met by other public or private programs. Pathways Hospice
Since 1978, Pathways Hospice has been providing comprehensive end-of-life care to anyone diagnosed with a terminal illness as well as grief and loss counseling to anyone affected by the loss of a loved one. Pathways Hospice serves Larimer and western Weld counties. As a non-profit organization, Pathways Hospice provides comprehensive hospice and bereavement services to anyone in need regardless of their insurance or financial status. Funding is needed to provide care to those not covered by insurance. Annually, Pathways Hospice provides more than $75,000 of charity care for the community. Book Trust is an early intervention literacy organization that provides a $7 monthly stipend for under-privileged students to choose, own, and delight in books. Estes Valley Investment in Childhood Success
EVICS promotes and supports quality early childhood care and education in the Estes Valley by providing resources and training to licensed childcare providers and support to families. Access to quality early childhood services is crucial to the economic viability of our community and to the future success of our young children. Donations are needed to support the organization’s on-going Childcare Scholarship Fund. These funds go to qualifying families who meet program guidelines for tuition assistance to licensed childcare and preschool programs in the Estes Valley. Homelessness Prevention Initiative
The Homelessness Prevention Initiative is a local, grassroots solution for working families facing the possibility of homelessness because of eviction. The initiative serves those living within the Poudre School District by providing rental assistance, referrals to appropriate services, agencies and community resources; and mediation between residents and landlords. In 2010 HPI established an agency fund at the Community Foundation of Northern Colorado. The organization is seeking support for general operational funding and program funding. Run For Your Life Colorado
Run For Your Life Colorado is dedicated to reducing childhood obesity in Northern Colorado, by getting children in need up and active through donations of running shoes. The organization is in need of 25 pairs of running shoes for an empowerment program it is hosting; the program will provide running shoes to girls who are victims of sexual abuse. CSU Campus Corps
Campus Corps is a multidisciplinary mentoring program that partners CSU student mentors with at-risk youth referred by the juvenile justice system. Youth come to campus once a week for individual and group mentoring where they participate in tutoring, recreational activities, and have a family style dinner. Many youth who live in Loveland are unable to attend Campus Corps because of transportation difficulties. Approximately $2812 is needed to bring 15 Loveland youth to Campus Corps once a week during the 2010-2011 academic year. Athletes in Tandem, Inc.
Athletes in Tandem provides opportunities for physically challenged athletes with motor disabilities to pursue an active lifestyle by participating in and experiencing running, cycling, swimming and triathlon events otherwise not available to them. The organization is seeking funding assistance to help with the purchase of a general liability insurance policy. Center for Diabetes Services at PVHS
The Center for Diabetes Services offers programs to help children and adults learn the skills to manage diabetes and prevent the complications it can cause. The Center for Family Outreach
The Center was founded in 2000 as a strength-based education and family services program for at-risk youth and their families. The Center for Family Outreach reduces delinquency in Larimer County by helping adolescents (ages 10 to 18) who are struggling with substance abuse and destructive behaviors, providing them with family intervention programs as an alternative to criminal justice sentencing. They serve more than 800 young people and their families each year, but because increasing numbers of youth in our community are abusing drugs and alcohol, more young people need help. Old-Fashioned Political Rally
Old-Fashioned Political Rally, a collaborative effort of the League of Women Voters of Larimer County, the Loveland Chamber of Commerce and the Loveland Daily Reporter-Herald, is a free, non-partisan event that will be held at The Ranch (Larimer County Fairgrounds) on Oct. 12. It will be a festive opportunity for Loveland, Fort Collins and Berthoud voters to meet all their candidates face-to-face, talk with supporters and opponents of the major ballot issues, and pick up both partisan and non-partisan election literature. The sponsoring organizations provide substantial in-kind donations but depend on community donations to cover the expense of building and furniture rental, security service, video recording for TV replay, decorations and lesser miscellaneous expenses. Boys and Girls Clubs of Larimer County
The Boys & Girls Clubs help youth ages 6 to 18 develop to their full potential by providing them with safe places to be after school and during all school breaks, and by having youth development professionals available that offer proven programs. Summer can presents a challenge for some low-income working parents, so the Boys and Girls Clubs offer early morning drop-off. To recover some of the operating costs for morning staff, they charge $10 per day for early drop-off. Therefore, Boys and Girls Clubs seeks additional funding to provide scholarship dollars for those parents that have met requirements for a summer scholarship. The Poudre School District Foundation’s mission is to unite community resources for excellence in public education. The Matthews House
The Matthews House is a 501(c)3 organization that serves youth ages 16 to 21 who lack significant family support in their lives as they transition into adulthood. The Matthews House provides the resources and support necessary to empower these youth to take control of their lives, shape positive futures for themselves and become successful contributors to their community. The Matthews House has recently experienced an increase in requests for services from youth not involved in the human services or juvenile justice systems, but because there are no government entities to pay for services to assist these youth, they are limited in the number they can accept into the program. They rely on assistance from community members and organizations to meet this need and are seeking new members for their Youth Support Team, a group of monthly and annual donors who provide funding for services to this motivated group of young adults. Emmie's Hope, a component fund of the Community Foundation Serving Greeley and Weld County, invites you to the Northern Colorado Women's Conference "Leaving a Legacy." Trying to change the world one girl at a time, Emmie's Hope is a faith-based group working with middle school age girls to build and enhance self-esteem. The Atmosphere Conservancy
The Atmosphere Conservancy works with area schools, nonprofits and affordable housing agencies to install renewable energy systems on their facilities, reducing utility costs and improving the environment. By providing the means to harvest the energy embodied in wind, geothermal and solar sources, they allow local service agencies to focus more of their resources on accomplishing their missions and less on purchasing energy. Birthright of Loveland
Birthright of Loveland, a 501(c)(3) organization, provides pro-life services for teens and women who find themselves experiencing unplanned pregnancies. Healthier Communities Coalition of Larimer County
The Healthier Communities Coalition of Larimer County (HCC) is a group of nonprofit, government, business and citizen leaders focused on improving the health and well-being of our children and youth. Alzheimer’s Association
The Alzheimer’s Association is the leading voluntary health organization in Alzheimer care, support and research. Its mission is to eliminate Alzheimer's disease through the advancement of research; to provide and enhance care and support for all affected; and to reduce the risk of dementia through the promotion of brain health. Alzheimer’s Association Memories in the Making® is a creative art expression program for individuals with Alzheimer’s disease or related dementias. Even after people with dementia have lost the ability to use words, they are often able to express thoughts and emotions and to share memories through painting with watercolors. Crossroads Safehouse
Since 1980, Crossroads Safehouse has sheltered more than 11,000 victims of domestic violence, nearly half of whom are children. Crossroads is Larimer County's largest domestic abuse service provider and offers a confidential safehouse, education for adults and children, and programs that help survivors live independent, happy, and violence-free lives. Crossroads Safehouse seeks support for its children's therapy program, the teen dating violence program, and its campaign to build a new safehouse. Monetary gifts of more than $100, and donations of goods and services valued at or above $500, are eligible for the Enterprise Zone tax-credit program. Laramie River Valley Rendezvous
The Laramie River Valley Rendezvous is a nonprofit organization that offers an outdoor adventure camp to at-risk youth aged 13 to 16 years. The camp is free to youth and promotes healthy lifestyles through developing relationships with law enforcement officers and reducing criminal recidivism by increasing self esteem and confidence.
