“Boys & Girls Clubs of Larimer County gave me the courage to face life,” Amber said.
The clubs have nurtured children since 1986 by providing a safe and positive place to gather after classes and during school breaks. Its youth-development programs improve lives by building positive attitudes, behaviors, skills, and values.
Boys & Girls Clubs leaders established an Agency fund with the Community Foundation in January 2007 to plan a bright future for children and teens like Amber.
“Larimer County is growing, and so is the number of children who need our services,” Executive Director Kathi Wright said. “We wanted to ensure that, even if there are economic downturns, we could continue to serve children at an optimal level. Having an endowment provides the assurance that we won’t have to say ‘no’ to kids.”
The clubs’ goals are to build the endowment to $10 million and use the interest, along with annual fundraising, to pay for the facilities, professionals, and programs that will help children meet their full potential.
